The Youth Friendly Space in Mukalla city, Hadhramaut Governorate, organized two activities within the activities of the project to combat female genital mutilations (FGM), which is carried out by HUMAN ACCESS and funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The goal of these events is to raise community awareness about the harmful phenomenon of FGM, and to protect girls from this wrong practice.
In this regard, the safe space carried out an awareness session targeting members of Al Amal Foundation for training and qualifying deaf and mute people through sign language.
Additionally, the Shamkhat Network members of the Friendly Space met on a regular basis to discuss the network's plans for the fourth quarter of this year, which is to be implemented in the coming period to combat FGM, an issue that has severe negative effects for both mental and physical health of girls, including reproductive health.
