Under the slogan "Leave her as she was created", HUMAN ACCES in Hadhramaut Governorate performed a public awareness campaign in the city of Mukalla about gender-based violence that includes health, psychological and social risks resulting from female genital mutilation (FGM), within the arrangement of the FGM project funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The campaign targeting 39 girls addressed the serious consequences of FGM, as it involves the removal of healthy and normal tissues.
The campaign also stressed the need to redouble efforts to eliminate this phenomenon that is rooted in some social norms, since it violates the basic human rights of girls and women.
