The Children's Honor Ambassadors Network in Mukalla, Hadhramaut Governorate, carried out field visits to a number of pregnant women and newborns to educate them about the dangers of the harmful phenomenon of female genital mutilation (FGM).
This comes within the context of the “Youth Friendly Space” project to combat FGM, which is implemented by HUMAN ACCESS with funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
During the visits, the targets were given “Her Beauty in Its Perfection” bags containing childhood and motherhood necessities, as part of the project’s awareness and education plan, aiming to confront sexual mutilation of girls as a wrong practice that is rooted in some social norms.
Girl and women's basic human rights are violated by such practices that cause long-term negative physical, psychological, and social outcomes.
