HUMAN ACCESS in Hadhramaut Governorate organized an awareness session in the city of Mukalla, targeting members of the Al-Ertiqaa Development Center to raise community awareness of the harms of female genital mutilation (FGM), under the umbrella of the project to combat FGM, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The awareness session was held to highlight the serious consequences of sexual mutilation of girls, as it is a wrong practice that is deeply rooted in some social norms and can result in long-term negative consequences for girls, including physical, psychological, and social consequences.
As a form of gender-based violence and violation of women's and girls' basic human rights, this harming phenomenon requires mobilizing efforts to end.
