HUMAN ACCESS in Hadhramaut Governorate implemented two awareness sessions to confront the harmful phenomenon of female genital mutilation (FGM), within the project to combat FGM, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Twenty young people active in volunteer and community work attended the first awareness session organized by the peer group in Mukalla city, while 25 women attended the second session in Seiyun city.
A major purpose of these events is to educate community members about the phenomenon of sexual mutilation of girls, a form of gender-based violence that has long-term physical, mental, and social consequences, and to emphasize the need to mobilize and advocate to end these practices.
