Within the framework of the project to combat female genital mutilations (FGM), funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), HUMAN ACCESS in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra governorates conducted two activities to raise community awareness about the harmful phenomenon of FGM, which represents a form of violence against women.
In this regard, an awareness session was organized in the city of Mukalla for nurses and midwives of Hadhramaut University Hospital, which is the second session targeting workers in the health sector.
Moreover, a field visit by the Children's Ambassadors Network to several homes in Al-Ghaydah, Al-Mahra, was conducted to educate pregnant women and mothers of newborns about the risks of sexual mutilation, a wrong practice that negatively impacts both the mental and physical health of girls.
