HUMAN ACCESS in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra governorates organized two activities within the anti-female genital mutilations (FGM) project activities, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to raise community awareness about the harmful phenomenon of FGM, which constitutes a violation of girls’ and women’s fundamental human rights.
In this regard, the association’s branch conducted field visits to a number of homes in the city of Mukalla, Hadhramaut, targeting pregnant women and newborn mothers.
In addition, 24 women attended an awareness session in Al-Ghaydah, Al-Mahra, to combat the issue of sexual mutilation of girls, which involves the destruction and damage of healthy and natural tissues, leading to long-term negative psychological, physical, and social consequences.
