Under the umbrella of the FGM project, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), HUMAN ACCESS conducted community awareness sessions in Hadhramaut Governorate to raise awareness about the harmful effects of female genital mutilation.
The key objective of the project is to mitigate these harmful practices that constitute a violation of the basic human rights for girls and women.
In this regard, the safe space in Seiyun city organized an awareness session, targeting 35 women.
Awareness sessions were also carried out in Mukalla city, targeting several women visiting the friendly space.
In the sessions, the participants discussed the serious consequences of the practice of sexual mutilating girls, a practice that is rooted in social norms and has long-term negative effects on their physical, psychological, and social well-being.
It was also pointed out that for the sake of a society free of violence against women in its entirety, girls should be protected from this phenomenon.
