HUMAN ACCESS in Aden, Shabwa and Marib governorates implemented a number of activities within the protection and livelihood support project “Safe Space for Women and Girls”, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief).
The key objective of these activities is to address issues related to gender-based violence and enhance women’s rights so that they are able to continue giving despite difficult circumstances.
In Aden, the safe space received over 200 women visitors to benefit from the services provided. Each visitor was given a numbered card with specific times to receive them and educate them, in order to make sure that everyone had an equal opportunity to participate.
In Shabwa, the safe space in Ataq city organized a community awareness session on women’s rights in Islamic Sharia law and Yemeni law and the importance of supporting these rights as a starting point for empowering women and advancing local communities.
In Marib, the safe space in Al-Jufaina area carried out community awareness about domestic violence and methods to mitigate it.
Furthermore, three sessions were carried out by the safe space in Al-Matar area. The first involved educating the community on the importance of women's education as a fundamental and indispensable right. The second was a group psychological support session on the importance of focusing on the positives and positive thinking, and the third was a legal awareness session about preventing violence and enhancing women's rights awareness.
