HUMAN ACCESS in Shabwa and Marib governorates organized a number of events under the “Safe Space for Women and Girls” livelihood and protection project, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), in an effort to ensure that women have greater access to basic rights.

In Ataq city in Shabwa, the safe space completed a training course in sweets and pastry making, targeting 15 beneficiaries.

The space also implemented a life, marketing and financial skills program for 29 beneficiaries of vocational rehabilitation, to qualify the beneficiaries with basic life, marketing and financial skills and prepare them to enter the labor market and open their own businesses.

In Marib, the safe space in Al-Matar area carried out two awareness sessions, the first targeting 31 female visitors to the space to introduce the services provided to advance the most vulnerable women and girls.

The second session addressed the importance of gender justice in education and the danger of preferring sons over girls, in addition to providing group psychological support entitled “Psychological Resilience,” in the presence of 29 beneficiaries.

In Wadi Marib, the safe space continued to carry out field visits to verify the criteria for rehabilitation entitlements, in conjunction with organizing community awareness sessions on family building, family dialogue, early marriage, and the importance of girls’ education.

The space also organized psychological support and recreational activities for children, in addition to tracking impact measurement for economically empowered cases.

In Al-Jufaina area, the safe space carried out three community awareness sessions, the first targeting a number of female visitors to the space, addressing the role of women in society.

The second session, attended by 15 visitors, discussed the harms caused by using smartphones on children and modern approaches for raising them.

The third session, however, was attended by 10 female visitors and addressed positive thinking, which equips individuals with the ability to overcome difficulties and find creative solutions.

The space also implemented group psychological support on mental health and its importance in the lives of women and the family in general.

Moreover, the space performed field visits to measure the impact of economically empowered cases, while also educating the community about the importance of identification documents for women and the importance of psychological security, in the presence of 15 women, to help them gain confidence and help others.
