HUMAN ACCESS continues to implement the activities of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign to Combat Violence against Women and Girls under the slogan "Empowerment and Protection for Sustainable Development", within the protection and livelihood support project "Safe Space for Women and Girls", funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), to address issues related to women's rights in Yemen.

In Aden governorate, the Safe Space organized an open day for children under the title "Together to End Child Labor". There were several recreational and educational activities included during the open day, along with gifts distributed to bring smiles to the faces of the targeted children, and to warn that child labor is a violation of human rights. Children must be protected, especially during crises, in order to protect their future and lives.

Additionally, the Safe Space held a workshop on "Mental Health of Mothers of Autistic Children" in collaboration with the Aden Children's Autism Association, designed to provide mothers with mental health support.

The workshop addressed the impact of autism disorder on the mental health of mothers and how to deal with autistic children.

In Al-Mahrah Governorate, the Safe Space in Al-Ghaydah city launched an open day under the title "Developing the Psychological Immunity of People with Disabilities", in collaboration with the Association for Care and Rehabilitation of the Physically Disabled and in conjunction with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on December 3 of each year.

A wide range of activities were featured at the open day in support of helping people with disabilities achieve their human rights.

Under the auspices of the local authority in Al-Mahrah, the supervision of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, and in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary Hussein Al-Masaadi, Ms. Zamzam Bayaqoub, Director of the Social Affairs Office in Al-Ghaydah District, and Ms. Intisar Awad, Director of the Women's Development Department in the district, the Safe Space organized a symposium entitled "The Right of the Disabled Girl to Education, Employment, and Motherhood".

Several topics at the symposium emphasized the importance of working to ensure that people with disabilities are not left behind.

In Wadi Hadhramaut, the Safe Space in Seiyun city conducted a field awareness campaign on violence against women in a commercial center to highlight the alarming escalation of violence against women and girls and inspire the community to take action to promote social change for the better and build a future free of gender-based violence.

In Shabwa governorate, the Safe Space in Ataq awarded economic empowerment grants to 12 women beneficiaries of vocational training in sewing and confectionery/ pastries by providing them with the basic toolkits to practice the profession to start their own businesses and become self-reliant.

The space also held an awareness lecture entitled "Protecting Women from Electronic Blackmail", with the goal of raising the awareness of female beneficiaries about the dangers of this widespread violence in today's world and how to prevent it.

In Marib governorate, the Safe Space in Al-Matar area hosted a legal symposium entitled "Societal Loss in Excluding Women from Their Human Rights".

During the symposium, a number of working papers were presented by a group of academics, which emphasized the importance of empowering women, preserving their rights, and enhancing their participation in all development activities.

The space in Al-Matar also conducted an awareness session on the dangers associated with the social media.

In the same context, the Safe Space in Al-Mujamma area established a group psychological support program on thinking errors that lead to mental illnesses, in order to clarify the behavioral and psychological effects of wrong thinking and treatments.

Further, an awareness session was held under the title “Violence against women is paid for by society”, stressing that domestic violence diminishes the value of the entire society and brings shame upon it, as it is a threat not only to women but to society in general.
