HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra and Ma’rib governorates conducted a number of activities within the protection and livelihood support project "Safe Space for Women and Girls" funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The goal is to assist women affected by crises in the country, address livelihood needs of families in need, and ease humanitarian burdens.

The safe space in Al-Ghaydah city of Al-Mahra concluded a ten-day vocational training course on engraving and henna, targeting 13 beneficiaries.

Additionally, the safe space offered a life, marketing, and financial skills course for 13 female trainees in the field of sweets and pastry manufacturing, in order to help them enter the labor market, compete, and overcome obstacles.

In Marib, the safe spaces held a focused discussion session with the participation of 8 beneficiaries to measure the beneficiaries' satisfaction with the spaces' services based on a set of basic criteria derived from the project's strategy in evaluating the services provided to women, reducing gender-based violence, maximizing strengths, avoiding weaknesses, and improving performance.

In Al-Matar area, the safe space concluded vocational courses in the manufacture of themes, incense, and perfumes, along with a closing ceremony and a bazaar for products showing the creativity of the beneficiaries of these courses. In light of the continued worsening economic crisis, 28 trainees were qualified within 10 days to enter the labor market and earn a living.

The space also carried out two awareness sessions, the first a legal one, on the importance of identification documents and how to obtain them.

In addition to psychological support for the HUMAN ACCESS team and self-care advice for several female visitors to the safe space, the second community session focused on the importance of family dialogue as a necessity for the stability of families and communities.

Over 40 girls attended a group psychological support session in Al Jufaina safe space entitled “Self-Confidence”.

A graduation ceremony was also held at the space for 14 graduates of vocational training in bakery manufacturing, which fosters self-reliance, helps develop the economy, and reduces reliance on humanitarian aid.

Furthermore, the safe space hosted the third quarterly meeting of its community protection committee to monitor, detect, and follow up on domestic violence cases, as well as to raise awareness about these issues.

During its third quarterly meeting, the Community Peer Network discussed mobilization and advocacy sessions for women's issues, and the importance of utilizing all means possible to raise community awareness.
