Under the slogan "Empowerment and Protection for Sustainable Development", HUMAN ACCESS continues to implement the activities of the 16-Day Campaign to Combat Violence against Women and Girls, as part of the Protection and Livelihood Support Project "Safe Space for Women and Girls", funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), to increase the advancement and empowerment of women in Yemen.
In Wadi Hadhramaut, the Safe Space in Seiyun city launched a community awareness campaign about AIDS, coinciding with World AIDS Day, which falls on December 1 of each year.
The awareness campaign targeted 50 women to improve awareness of this disease, prevent it, and mitigate its spread, especially in vulnerable communities and groups most susceptible to this deadly disease.
In Al-Mahrah governorate, the Safe Space in Al-Ghaydah City awarded economic empowerment grants in sewing and pastry making to 12 beneficiaries to improve women's lives and make them less vulnerable to violence.
During the distribution process, assistant undersecretary of the governorate, Hussein Al-Masadi, commended HUMAN ACCESS and UNFPA’s efforts to ensure a comprehensive response to gender-based violence.
In Shabwa governorate, the Safe Space in Ataq city held field visits to a number of schools and conducted various awareness sessions to combat violence against women and girls as a global phenomenon that transcends borders, social and economic status, and age groups, along with the need to mitigate the resulting risks and respond to them in humanitarian situations.
In Taiz governorate, the Safe Space in Al-Qahirah district organized an awareness seminar for girl students of Al-Khansa Technical Commercial Institute.
In the same context, the Safe Space in Al-Muzaffar district hosted awareness sessions and disseminated brochures to introduce the 16-day campaign and the need to end violence against women and girls, which has become more urgent than ever.
In Al-Hodeidah governorate, the Safe Space in Al-Khokha district launched a celebration on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on December 3 of each year, under the auspices of the local authority and in collaboration with the Care and Rehabilitation Fund for the Disabled.
The celebration involved several important segments emphasizing the need to improve the conditions of people with disabilities and protect their rights.
In Marib governorate, in the presence of the deputy governor, Dr. Abdo Rabbo Miftah, and Abdulhakim Al-Qaisi, director general of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, a training workshop on strategic planning and report writing was launched for 25 trainees of women and children's officials in the local authority offices. The workshop lasted for 3 days.
The safe space in Al-Jufaina camp celebrated World AIDS Day to promote awareness of this disease.
The space also arranged a number of psychological and recreational activities for schoolgirls who suffer from psychological pressures due to early and forced marriage, in addition to holding a school radio in one of the girls' schools, and honoring excellent students and school principals.
In Al-Matar area, the safe space celebrated World AIDS Day under the title "Together to spread awareness, not fear."
The space also concluded training programs for 33 female trainees in sewing, tailoring, confectionery and pastry making, and concrete art, to ensure their access to resources and make them less vulnerable to exploitation.
Furthermore, in Wadi Marib, the safe space awarded, in the presence of a number of local officials in the district, economic empowerment grants to 18 beneficiaries of vocational rehabilitation in sewing, tailoring, accessories making, incense and perfume making, as part of the activities of the 16-day campaign of activism to combat violence against women and girls.
