HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra and Marib governorates conducted a wide range of purposeful activities on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, which is celebrated on October 10 of each year, as part of the protection and livelihood support project "Safe Space for Women and Girls" funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

In Al-Ghaydah city of Al-Mahra, the safe space implemented various activities, including a recreational activity for children, the distribution of gifts, a school radio broadcast on mental health, and awareness-raising activities to raise awareness of mental health issues and mobilize efforts to support mental health.

A recreational trip was also organized for the safe space's staff to promote mental health in the workplace, which is this year’s slogan of World Mental Health Day.

In Marib, the safe space in Al-Rawdah area and Al-Mil camps held recreational and awareness-raising activities in displacement camps to relieve psychological pressure on the most vulnerable displaced persons, in addition to organizing field visits to a number of schools to provide psychological support to girls and encourage them to continue their education.

An open day event was also organized in the space with the attendance of many beneficiaries to emphasize the status of mental health and the importance of promoting psychological well-being.

A seminar was held at the safe space in Al-Matar with 40 women attending, during which several papers emphasized the importance of mental health and the need to ensure that mental health and well-being become a priority for all Yemen’s citizens, where the prolonged humanitarian crisis has severely damaged the mental health of its people.

A focus group discussion was also conducted to develop the mental health of the work team, community awareness with the attendance of 15 women, and a psychological education session targeting 16 beneficiaries.

In Al-Wadi district, the safe space carried out a group of purposeful activities, including honoring employees, a recreational activity for children and employees, and community awareness.

Moreover, a dialogue session was organized that addressed the importance of happiness and its psychological impact, and the importance of women's mental health.

In these activities, the importance of preserving mental health as a basic human right was underscored, as was the importance of addressing the exacerbated mental health needs related to the ongoing conflict for nearly a decade.
