
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, which falls on October 10th of each year, and under the theme "Mental Health in Humanitarian Emergencies," HUMAN ACCESS implemented a number of diverse activities as part of the project to provide livelihood services to the most vulnerable women and girls in Yemen, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
In Dar Saad District, Aden Governorate, special medications were distributed to 36 women beneficiaries. A special day was held for project female workers, which included specialized psychological support corners focused on recovery and personal renewal. Three group psychological support sessions were also held to promote mental health through various methods.
In Mukalla City, Hadhramaut Governorate, several targeted activities were conducted, including the distribution of gifts to women, organization of competitions, and a recreational trip for project female workers. This was given due to the close connection between mental health and work, and the importance of promoting the mental health of workers to improve work performance and prosperity.
In the city of Ataq in Shabwah Governorate, an awareness session was held under the title "Mental Health is a Right for Every Human Being". The session targeted female teachers and students at Al-Baihani Girls' School. The event addressed several important issues, emphasizing the importance of supporting the mental health and psychosocial needs of people affected by humanitarian emergencies.
In the city of Al-Ghaydah in Al-Mahra Governorate, several purposeful and enjoyable activities were held, including the distribution of motivational gifts and awareness brochures. A special session was also held for project female workers.
Additionally, an awareness campaign was conducted during the morning assembly at a public school to raise awareness of mental health issues as a basic human right and that mental health must be invested in for stronger societies.
In Al-Rawdah area and Al-Mil camps for IDPs in Marib Governorate, various awareness-raising activities were launched, along with recreational activities for children and the distribution of gifts and toys. The goal was to mitigate the impact of mental health problems suffered by children in displacement sites due to the harsh conditions and deprivation of life amid one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
In Wadi Marib, a community awareness campaign was held on the importance of psychological well-being, attended by 300 women. Educational activities were also organized, along with group psychological support, targeting 260 girl students. A recreational awareness activity, accompanied by psychological support, was also implemented for 60 girls.
Furthermore, a recreational awareness activity was organized for the project's female workers, titled "Despite the Circumstances and Crises, I Am Strong".
