HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra Governorate held a regular meeting of the Children’s Ambassadors Network in Al-Ghaydah city as part of the project to combat female genital mutilations (FGM), funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in order to increase the community knowledge about the harmful effects of FGM.
During the meeting, which focused on the network's mechanisms and ways to overcome obstacles, Ahmed Sharaf, Director of UNFPA's Protection Sector, noted the importance of participating in these activities to help reduce wrong and entrenched practices in local communities, such as female circumcision, which violates women's and girls' fundamental human rights.
