HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra Governorate carried out an awareness session in Al-Ghaydah city to raise community awareness of the harms of female genital mutilation (FGM), as part of the project to combat FGM, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
30 women attended the session, which emphasized the serious consequences of girl sexual mutilation as a wrong practice rooted in some social norms that has long-term negative physical, psychological, and social consequences, and that violates the fundamental human rights of girls and women.
The need to address this harmful social phenomenon is thus urgent.
