HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra Governorate organized a community awareness session in the presence of 29 women in Al-Ghaydah city, to improve community awareness of the harms of female genital mutilation (FGM), within the project to combat FGM, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The awareness session addressed the serious consequences of sexual mutilation of girls, as it is a wrong practice that is rooted in some social norms and leads to long-term negative physical, psychological, and social consequences.
Additionally, the session emphasized the importance of mobilizing efforts to address this harmful phenomenon, which is another form of gender-based violence.
