HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra and Marib governorates implemented a set of activities within the protection and livelihood support project “Safe Space for Women and Girls,” funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), to empower women economically and protect and promote human rights.

In Al-Ghaydah city in Al-Mahra, the safe space organized a life skills program for 25 trainees in sewing and pastry making, to help them start their own businesses and earn income in light of the multiple critical economic and humanitarian crises resulting from the conflict that has extended for nearly a decade.

In Marib, the safe space in Al-Matar area conducted collective psychological support under the title “Fasting enhances our mental health,” in the presence of 33 women.

Additionally, a focus group discussion was conducted with 30 women to analyze the market, explore income-generating projects, and identify the professional preparations and inclinations of applicants for craft qualifications.

The space also carried out community awareness raising entitled “Women are Men’s Sisters,” and concluded a training course in the field of sweets/pastry making for 15 women.

It also organized a life, financial and marketing skills training for 30 beneficiaries of vocational rehabilitation to equip them with the basic skills necessary to engage in the labor market and earn a living.

In Wadi Marib, the safe space concluded a vocational training in hairdressing and another in sewing for 13 trainees.

Moreover, a training program in sewing and pastry making was completed in Al-Mujamma area, targeting 26 beneficiaries to assist them in overcoming challenges and building dignified and safe lives
