HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra and Marib governorates organized a number of important activities within the protection and livelihood support project “Safe Space for Women and Girls,” funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), to expand the scope of women’s rights in Yemen and enhance their role in public life.

The safe space in Al-Ghaydah city in Al-Mahra held a bazaar to exhibit the products of trainees in sewing, sweets and pastry making. A relief coordinator from the KSrelief Center's office branch in Al-Mahra, Salem Al-Saqqaf, and several social and women's figures attended the event, which was conducted under the auspices of the local authority and under the supervision of the Social Affairs and Labor Office.

As part of the bazaar, there was a corner for sewing and another for pastries and sweets, featuring products revealing participants' ability to compete in the labor market and their ability to create, excel, and make a living.

The bazaar’s main objective was to highlight the work of the beneficiaries, introduce their creativity, help them improve their abilities, and provide marketing opportunities for their products.

In Marib, the safe space in Al-Jufaina area carried out community awareness and psychological support, in the presence of 25 women, about participating in family decision-making and controlling emotions.

The team of peer network members also implemented a mobilization and advocacy session entitled “Women’s Rights in Society.”

On its part, the safe space in Al-Mujamma area organized community awareness campaigns promoting education as a key source of empowerment for women.

In Al-Rawda area and Al-Mil camps, the safe space concluded a training program in the field of sewing and tailoring.

Furthermore, the safe space in Al-Matar area established community awareness about mental illnesses and their impact on the body, and concluded a vocational training in sewing, targeting 17 women to provide them with the basic skills of this income-generating craft profession to engage in the labor market and become self-reliant.
