In the governorates of Shabwa and Marib, HUMAN ACCESS carried out awareness sessions, panel discussions and field visits within the protection and livelihood support project “Safe space for women and girls” funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The goal is to raise women’s awareness in Yemen regarding a number of important issues and to support their steadfastness in this country mired in conflict.

In this regard, the safe space in the city of Ataq, Shabwa, conducted field visits to analyze the market to determine the needs of livelihood projects for the current year 2023.

Panel discussions were also held to analyze the needs of women and girls in the region regarding livelihood projects and identify priority projects, through which the type of training courses required for this year will be determined.

In a related context, the safe space in Marib city and Al-Matar area of Marib organized focused discussion panels in the presence of a number of women training applicants to analyze the market and identify needs in order to reach the quality of vocational training and economic empowerment programs for training applicants in a way that meets the needs of women trainees and the labor market.

Moreover, the safe space in Al-Mujamma area in Marib has launched two training courses, the first of which lasted for 20 days and qualified 16 trainees in the field of sewing and tailoring, while the second course targeted eight beneficiaries who had been on a waiting list for a year in the field of first aid.

Additionally, the safe space in Al-Jufaina area organized two awareness sessions, the first for 17 women visiting the space, focusing on the space's role as an embodiment of human rights and the concept of protection for all rights violated. In the second session, 20 women were targeted and focused on how discrimination against women could negatively affect both their families and society.

 

In Al-Matar area, the safe space carried out two awareness sessions for a number of visitors to the space. The first session dealt with psychological awareness about feeling satisfied and positive thinking, while the second session focused on legal awareness of women's rights to encourage women and girls to achieve the change they want to reach, especially with regard to harmful habits.
