The world celebrates World Mental Health Day, which falls on October 10 each year, to raise awareness of mental health issues, mobilize efforts to support mental health, and increase investment in mental health.

On this occasion, HUMAN ACCESS organized awareness sessions, psychological support and various activities in the governorates of Hadhramaut, Marib, and Shabwa, attended by a number of women and girls, as an opportunity to promote and protect mental health.

The awareness sessions and activities implemented aimed to raise awareness of the importance of mental health as an integral part of human general health, the importance of reducing stigma around mental health diseases, and offering tips to stay away from depression as much as possible, and others.

The events included recreational activities, positive stories of persons whose lives have changed for the better through psychological support programs, video shows, distribution of leaflets and medicines, a bazaar, special corners to promote mental health, and other diverse and purposeful activities.

These events come within the activities of the protection and livelihood support project "Safe Space for Women and Girls", implemented by HUMAN ACCESS in Hadhramaut, Marib and Shabwa, with funding from United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Yemen suffers from a scarcity of mental health care and an increasing need for it by Yemenis, as the ongoing war has had a severe impact on the mental health of Yemenis, particularly women and girls, as it is one of the severely stigmatized diseases in the country.

HUMAN ACCESS is on the side of people with mental disorders and has been able to save many lives through mental health services provided across multiple projects. These services are represented in operating and supporting 11 safe spaces and psychological support centers in the governorates of Hadhramaut, Marib, Shabwa, Mahra and Hodeidah.
