HUMAN ACCESS implemented a number of targeted activities as part of its project "Safe Space for Women and Girls" in the governorates of Shabwa and Marib, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The goal is to empower women in all areas of their lives, increase their knowledge, assist them in achieving their goals within their communities, as well as reduce the obstacles women face that prevent them from obtaining their legal rights.
In Shabwa, the safe space in Ataq city organized three awareness sessions, the first a psychological awareness session entitled “How to build self-confidence,” and the second a legal awareness session entitled “Annulment of the Marriage Contract” in the presence of a number of women and visitors to the space.
The third session was titled “Characteristics of Mental Health and Psychological Adjustment,” targeting an educational complex in the city to emphasize the importance of maintaining mental health in order to lead a normal life and enjoy good health.
In Marib, the safe space in Al-Matar area provided life, financial and marketing skills training to females who were trained as hairdressers to help them prepare for the labor market and advance their careers.
It also conducted a psychological support session for a number of female visitors to the space on enhancing self-confidence and overcoming obstacles.
The safe space in Al Jufaina area also organized a working team meeting to discuss upcoming activities and motivate performance to support women’s issues in Yemen.
