In order to lift the most vulnerable and needy groups out of their bitter reality, HUMAN ACCESS in the governorates of Shabwa, Al-Mahra, and Marib implemented a variety of essential activities under the United Nations Population Fund's "Safe Space for Women and Girls" project. The project teaches women the craft skills they need to enter the labor market and overcome poverty and unemployment.

In Ataq city of Shabwa, the safe space conducted a life, marketing and financial skills course for female beneficiaries of the vocational program for the fourth quarter of this year to equip them with basic skills about the labor market that could help them succeed in their own businesses.

The safe space also concluded a vocational training course in the field of sewing and tailoring, targeting 12 women trainees from the displaced and the host community.

In Al-Mahra, the safe space in Al-Ghaydah city carried out three community awareness sessions.

The first one session addressed the importance of maximizing opportunities, while the second focused on the impact of vocational training on individuals, society, and women in particular, targeting 24 participants who had received vocational qualifications in sewing and pastry-making.

As for the third session, it improved knowledge about methods of combating widespread fevers, targeting 10 female visitors to the safe space.

Marib's safe space in Al-Wadi district has concluded its sewing and tailoring vocational training program for the fourth quarter of this year, culminating in a ceremony at which the trainees' products were displayed.

The displayed products reflected the professionalism of the beneficiaries of this skilled craft and their ability to compete, earn a living, and live in dignity.

In Al-Rawda area and Al-Mil camps, the safe space completed a vocational training program for the fourth quarter of 2023 in the field of sweets and pastry-making by holding a mini-ceremony for the trainees during which the products of the program’s beneficiaries were displayed.

The beneficiaries expressed their happiness at possessing such skills that enable them to engage in the labor market and become self-reliant.

In Al-Matar area, the safe space there organized a training course for 15 beneficiaries in the field of engraving and henna to equip them with the skills necessary of this income-generating craft.

The space also carried out an awareness session for the course’s trainees to introduce the space services for the advancement of women and girls.

Furthermore, the safe space in Al Jufaina area launched a training program in leather bag making for 12 women to qualify them to become professionals in this skill and improve their living standard and of their families.
