With funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), HUMAN ACCESS in Shabwa and Marib governorates organized a number of important activities under the protection and livelihood support project, “Safe Space for Women and Girls,” in order to empower women and support their rights in line with human rights and dignity.

In Ataq city of Shabwa, the safe space launched a training course in the field of incense and perfume making, with the participation of 12 trainees from displaced women and the host community.

The goal of training is to enhance the resilience of vulnerable groups in the face of harsh conditions and expand the scope of livelihoods, as a result of the difficult living and economic conditions that the country is going through.

In Marib, the safe space in Al-Jufaina area carried out community awareness on problem-solving skills and time management, in the presence of 14 women.

Additionally, the space provided psychological support program to 15 women on the importance of avoiding depressing situations and replacing them with their pleasant opposites, to avoid drowning oneself in worries, which is known as “mutual desistance therapy”.

The safe space in Al-Jufaina also held a training program on marketing skills, including digital marketing skills, targeting 13 beneficiaries of vocational training in the field of sewing and tailoring to increase their sales and income.

The safe space in Al-Matar area also organized psychological support sessions, focusing on ways to modify children’s behavior and psychological resilience.

In Al-Mujamma area, the safe space held a regular meeting of the peer network and community-based committees for the fourth quarter of this year.

The goal of the meeting is to discuss previous performance reports and the major recommendations to improve work during the next stage and support Yemeni women’s issues, including preparing for the 16-day campaign to combat gender-based violence at the end of this month.
