To help Yemeni women overcome the current crisis, preserve their rights, and enhance their participation in all development activities, HUMAN ACCESS in Marib Governorate implemented various activities within the “Safe Space for Women and Girls” protection and livelihood support project, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief).
The safe space in Wadi Marib organized recreational activities for children in the belief that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has a fundamental right to play, which has been violated in Yemen due to the conflict.
In addition, a focus group discussion related to market analysis was conducted in an effort to qualify and prepare women to create economically viable, purposeful projects that meet needs and offer quality employment opportunities.
In Al-Matar area, the safe space conducted psychological support on depression, its causes and treatment, with the presence of 18 female visitors to the space, to help them gain self-confidence and support others.
Three awareness sessions were also held, the first on time management skills, attended by 38 girls, and the second on the importance of girls' education, as it is an established right and a major source of empowerment for women.
At the third session, 18 women were introduced to space services and legal awareness of women's rights in Al-Sharika camp for displaced people.
There were four psychological support sessions conducted at the safe space in Al-Jufaina area, the first focusing on the path to psychological resilience, attended by 40 women, and the second, dealing with common psychological disorders, attended by 34 visitors.
The third session focused on problem-solving skills, and introduced safe space services and criteria for obtaining them in front of 25 visitors.
The fourth session dealt with emotional control and its impact on children, in the presence of 8 women.
Similarly, three awareness sessions were held, the first on the importance of obtaining personal identification and legislation protecting women's rights. The second was on the importance of women having a profession that allows them to overcome difficult living and economic conditions and live in dignity.
The third session addressed community awareness, including domestic violence and its effects, and carried out a focus discussion about career choice and market analysis.
