HUMAN ACCESS in Marib Governorate implemented a number of important activities within the “Safe Space for Women and Girls” protection and livelihood support project, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), to defend the rights and needs of women and girls in Yemen and provide them with the required assistance.
In Al-Matar area, the safe space carried out three community awareness sessions, the first on the harmful effects of early marriage, in the presence of 20 women in Al-Sharika camp for IDPs, to raise awareness about this dangerous phenomenon.
The second session was attended by 32 displaced women in Al Quoz camp to introduce the space’s services, while the third session targeted 32 beneficiaries, addressing gender-based violence and the importance of confronting this epidemic, which constitutes one of the barriers to achieving women’s human rights.
In Al Jufaina area, the safe space organized a psychological support session for a number of beneficiaries and visitors to the space, addressing the importance of self-confidence and developing personal skills.
The space also performed a field visit to verify the eligibility criteria for female applicants for vocational qualification programs, as part of multiple tools to ensure their eligibility for training and their potential to acquire craft skills, embark on a practical life, and earn a living.
The space also conducted field visits to Al-Jufaina camp for displaced people, targeting 14 women to introduce them to space services.
On the sidelines of the visit, affected women were referred to the space to benefit from its important services for the advancement of the most vulnerable women.
Moreover, the safe space in Al-Mujamma area organized a campaign to educate the community about gender-based violence, in the presence of 23 women.
On the sidelines of the campaign, psychological support and recreational games were provided to a number of children.
In Al-Wadi District, the safe space held a meeting with social figures and those responsible for the camps for IDPs in the district, within the framework of coordinating efforts, cooperation, and measuring the impact of interventions.
Additionally, the space conducted a field visit to follow up on the entrepreneurial success stories of women who launched their inspiring experiences in the perfume and accessories industry after they were empowered economically.
In a new achievement for the safe space in Al-Rawda area and Al-Mil camps, the beneficiary of the vocational rehabilitation and economic empowerment projects, “A, A,” opened the first women’s shop for mobile phone maintenance and programming in Marib city.
The beneficiary expressed her sincere thanks for the protection and livelihood support project, which enabled her to acquire the skills of this qualitative and income-generating profession and meet the need of the women community to protect their data and privacy.
