HUMAN ACCESS was involved in a range of activities in the governorates of Shabwa and Marib in connection with the protection project and support for livelihoods. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) funded a project entitled "Safe space for women and girls" that will improve the access of women and girls to employment and services in the country and raise their awareness.

In Ataq city of Shabwa, the safe space completed the verification process of 23 women who are nominated to receive the granting of economic empowerment in the professional fields that were trained during the first half of the current year 2023, which are the fields of cooking, hairdressers, sweets industry and pastries.

The verification process took place through a program of field visits for beneficiaries and completion of verification forms, which ensured livelihood grants reached families who meet the criteria and are able to enter the labor market and open economic projects that benefit themselves and their families.

As part of the safe space in Ataq, a peer network meeting was also held during the third quarter of this year to discuss the next action plan for mobilizing and advocating for women's issues, raising community awareness of them, and introducing the space and its services in order to advance the lives of women and girls.

In the city of Marib, the safe space conducted community awareness sessions and group psychological support for the HUMAN ACCESS team.

Al-Shaddadi camp for displaced people was one of the sites where several important topics were discussed, including the necessity of girls' education, the dangers of early marriage, the importance of self-confidence, how to cope with psychological pressure, the importance of identification papers, etc.
