Under (UNFPA-funded "Safe Space for Women and Girls" Project, HUMAN ACCESS has initiated the distribution of economic empowerment grants to 28 beneficiaries for the first and second quarters of 2022, in Al-Mukalla, Hadhramaut Governorate.

During the inauguration, which was attended by the Office Director-General of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour in Sahel Hadramout, Mr. Ahmed Ba Zarous stressed the importance of such programmes and projects, which empower women and enable them to access opportunities in the labour market so they can provide for their families in such trying times the country is undergoing.

For his part, HUMAN ACCESS Executive Director in Sahel Hadramout, Eng. Mohammed Al-Haddari, highlighted that HUMAN ACCESS accord great attention toward women's empowerment and training projects, playing an important role in development. He also confirmed the continuation of such projects over the coming periods.

In turn, the Protection Project Coordinator in Al-Mukalla, Mr. Khaled Ba Essa provided an overview of the economic empowerment grants, pointing to the training sessions in the fields of sewing, cooking, and Beautification that were provided for 28 beneficiaries from IDP women and host community. He also presented the most prominent programmes contained in this project.

The Chairperson of the National Women's Committee in Sahel Hadramout, Ms. Faezah Ba Mutref also praised such projects, which offer opportunities to train and empower women economically, noting the significant role of women being the backbone of the family, and the importance of their empowerment.
