In partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and MotherFood, the Community Center for IDPs, run by HUMAN ACCESS in Marib Governorate, handed over career bags in the field of pastry, sweets and food manufacturing to 25 women from the displaced and host community, in the presence of the Governor’s Undersecretary, Ali Al-Fatimi, and the Director of UNHCR’s Marib office, Peter Fitz.

As part of the bags distributed to beneficiaries, there were crafts requirements designed to prepare them to enter the labor force after earning their professional qualifications in this field.

The handover process took place on the sidelines of an annual bazaar organized by the community center under the slogan “Empowering Women and Building Their Capabilities for a Better Future,” as a final activity within the 16 Days Activity Campaign to End Gender-based Violence.

Women who have benefited from rehabilitation and economic empowerment programs will showcase and sell their products at the bazaar, which includes pastry, sweets and food manufacturing, perfume and incense making, accessories, and handicrafts.

During the distribution, Al-Fatimi praised HUMAN ACCESS and UNHCR’s efforts in implementing economic empowerment projects that help improve the income level of vulnerable families and raise their living standard.

For his part, the Director General of the Social Affairs and Labor office, Abdulhakim Al-Qaisi, emphasized the importance of livelihood improvement projects for helping vulnerable people better cope with life.

Peter Fitz also stressed the importance of qualification in the field of healthy food production and promoting the culture of producing healthy products with nutritional value among society.
