A delegation from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) visited the safe space for women and girls, managed by HUMAN ACCESS in Mukalla, Hadhramaut Governorate, as part of a project to provide livelihood services to the most vulnerable women and girls in Yemen, funded by UNFPA.
The delegation included Mr. Francesco Gualtieri, UNFPA Representative in Yemen; Mr. Anwar Sharma, Director of the UNFPA office in Hadhramaut; Dr. Rania Hassan, Coordinator of the Reproductive and Maternal Health Program at UNFPA in Yemen; and Mr. Alaa Ehab, Youth Program Officer at UNFPA in Yemen.
During the visit, the UN delegation was briefed on the programs, activities, and services provided to protect women and girls, support their rights, and empower them. They met with a number of women beneficiaries and commended the efforts of HUMAN ACCESS to address the growing threats hindering the progress of Yemeni women, particularly the poorest and those living in precarious situations.
