With the funding of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), HUMAN ACCESS in Hadhramaut, Al-Mahrah, and Marib governorates implemented a wide range of important activities to empower women and increase their participation in all fields across Yemen through the protection and livelihood support project "Safe Space for Women and Girls."
The safe space in Seiyun in Wadi Hadhramaut launched two training courses in sewing, tailoring, hairdressing, and beauty for 24 beneficiaries from low-income families, the poorest families of displaced persons, and the host community for the purpose of enhancing livelihoods and achieving self-sufficiency.
For the last quarter of this year, 22 women beneficiaries from Al-Mahrah were enrolled in rehabilitation courses in sewing and pastry making at the safe space in Al-Ghaydah to turn them into productive families, as well as to improve their economic situation by opening small commercial enterprises.
In Marib, the safe space in Al-Jufainah area concluded a vocational training program in hairdressing and makeup arts, targeting 12 trainees.
The space also completed a life and marketing skills program for trainees in sewing and hairdressing to prepare them to enter the labor market and start their own businesses.
As part of its awareness program, Al-Matar's safe space hosted two awareness sessions titled "Drafting Laws in Family and the Right to Make Decisions", and "Women's Right to Education." These sessions were intended to introduce beneficiaries to their role in society, improve their intellectual and cultural level, and enhance awareness of women's rights and status.
In Al-Mujamma area, the safe space has begun to implement a comprehensive protection and awareness-raising program for girls who were subjected to early marriage after coordination with a girls' secondary school.
Besides vocational rehabilitation, enhancing the beneficiaries' capabilities, and building self-confidence, this qualitative program offers psychological support sessions, legal consultations, life skills training, time management, and problem-solving training.
