Ongoing activities to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence
HUMAN ACCESS continues its efforts to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, under the slogan "Unite to End Violence against All Women and Girls," as part of the project to provide livelihood services to the most vulnerable women and girls in Yemen, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
In Aden Governorate, a workshop was held, attended by 12 women who benefited from economic empowerment programs and who had succeeded in their own projects in the fields of sewing, incense making, and beauty, in an effort to measure the profound impact of economic empowerment in reducing violence against women and girls.
Community and legal awareness sessions were also organized, attended by a number of women and girls, to introduce this year’s 16 Days of Activism campaign, which focuses on ending digital violence against all women and girls, given the seriousness of violence against women on electronic platforms, which takes many aggressive forms, including cyberbullying.
In Al-Ghaydah city in Al-Mahra Governorate, a workshop entitled “The Impact of Training in Reducing Gender-Based Violence” was conducted, with the participation of 40 women trainees. In addition, radio interviews were conducted on a number of local radio stations, addressing the importance of taking immediate and effective measures to prevent and eliminate digital violence and to promote regulation and accountability of platforms.
