With funding from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), HUMAN ACCESS refurbished the civil status building in Marib Governorate and assisted 5,000 displaced individuals and the most vulnerable host community in obtaining identification cards, since identification is a key component of public life and humanitarian services.

As part of the support provided to the Civil Status, a front and rear canopy was completed, walls were restored and painted, flooring tiled, work desks and chairs were provided, old tables and chairs were maintained, aluminum reception booths and electronic screens were offered, as well as internal networks.

During the opening of the building, the Undersecretary of Marib Governorate, Dr. Abdu Rabbo Miftah, praised this sustainable development support provided by HUMAN ACCESS and UNHCR to support the efforts of the local authority in providing the service of issuing identification documents.

For his part, the Director General of the Civil Status branch in the governorate, Brigadier General Mohammad Abdu Rabbo Mujaidee, stressed the importance of this vital support to facilitate the provision of these necessary services.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of the Executive Unit for the Management of IDP Camps, Saif Muthanna, as well as Peter Fitz-Morris, Director of the UNHCR Marib office.

In his speech, Fitz-Morris noted that people's access to personal documents is a crucial component of freedom of movement, access to social protection mechanisms and safety nets, and an environment that is safer for everyone.
