HUMAN ACCESS in Shabwa Governorate launched a house-to-house awareness campaign about cholera. The campaign targets nearly ten thousand women and children in Ataq District over five days to limit the spread of this deadly epidemic and preserve the safety of families.
"We are all one hand to eradicate cholera" is the slogan of the campaign, which includes awareness brochure distribution and neighborhood visits.
The campaign is implemented under the supervision of the local authority and the Public Health and Population Office in Shabwa to enhance the concept of how to prevent this widespread epidemic.
During the launch of the campaign, Dr. Abdulqawi Lamrouq, Deputy Governor of Shabwa, praised the important efforts made by HUMAN ACCESS to confront the increasing health risks, including the spread of cholera, a source of great concern, emphasizing the need to raise community awareness and prevent this disease from spreading.
Cholera has reappeared in Yemen and continues to spread due to several factors, including heavy rains and floods that have destroyed water and sanitation facilities.
With severe weather conditions expected to continue, more families are at risk of disease outbreaks due to damaged water and sanitation infrastructure.
