Every year, on November 20th, the world celebrates International Children's Day, a day dedicated to the benefit of children, and it marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on Children's Rights. In addition to the inherent rights of children to life including the freedom to express their opinions freely, the Convention sets a universal set of standards that all countries must follow.

In countries ravaged by conflict and upheaval, children are suffering horrendous effects as a result. Among these countries is Yemen.

Yemeni children continue to pay a heavy price for the protracted conflict and are in dire need of protection for their rights. Protecting the rights of every child, whoever and wherever, is the surest way to build a more peaceful, prosperous and just world for all.

As Yemeni children's situation is dire due to the ongoing conflict, HUMAN ACCESS has stepped up its efforts to help them, including creating child-friendly spaces. It is important for Yemeni children not to be left behind during childhood due to deprivation and discrimination, which can lead to lifelong harm.

HUMAN ACCESS sponsored various activities in Hadhramaut and Marib governorates on International Children's Day to bring joy to children and to encourage their positive interaction with their peers and the community.

This initiative comes within the framework of the activities of the protection and livelihood support project “Safe Space for Women and Girls”, funded by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

As part of the implemented activities, gifts were distributed to children, shopping trips were organized for some children, so that they could buy gifts of their choice and give them to those they loved. Entertainment programs in a number of kindergartens and schools were also organized.

The aim is to provide fair opportunities for children to exercise their rights, including the right to play and learn, as well as to contribute to the development of the most vulnerable children.

By working through these targeted activities, HUMAN ACCESS tries to highlight the rights of children on their international day and emphasizes the need to protect Yemeni children and children throughout the globe, believing that humanity should provide its best for each child.

With more work and investment, the benefit will spread across the generations, as it is no longer acceptable for children to give up their dreams.
