An open day was organized by HUMAN ACCESS in Hadhramaut Governorate in the city of Mukalla to raise awareness about the negative physical, psychological, and social effects of female genital mutilation (FGM), in the presence of a number of women and girls, as part of the UNFPA-funded FGM project.
A number of promote awareness sessions, cultural and entertainment competitions, and others were offered during the open day, all of which were well received by the participants.
By emphasizing the importance of protecting girls from these wrong practices, it is important to increase public awareness of the dangers of sexual mutilation of girls, which has long-term negative physical and psychological consequences and violates girls' basic human rights.
