As the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign nears its end, HUMAN ACCESS continues its activities within the framework of the project to provide livelihood services to the most vulnerable women and girls in Yemen, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
In the city of Ataq in Shabwa Governorate, the sixth annual bazaar was organized for beneficiaries of vocational rehabilitation and livelihood grants, in the presence of the Deputy Governor, Ahmed bin Abdul Habib Al-Daghari, the Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, Ali Ahmed Omair, and the Head of the Yemeni Women’s Union in Shabwa, Ms. Fatima Faraj.
In a speech during the opening of the bazaar, the Deputy Governor of Shabwa stressed the importance of enhancing women’s economic presence, emphasizing the need to find permanent markets that maintain the continuity of these efforts, while the Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office stressed the importance of creating job opportunities for women to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The bazaar included a wide range of professional and craft products, reflecting the skills of the participants, as well as awareness corners on digital protection and psychosocial support, in an effort to promote safety and build confidence among women, within an integrated vision linking economic empowerment and raising self-awareness.
In Al-Wadi district of Marib governorate, a commemorative event was organized on the occasion of International Volunteer Day, which falls on December 5th of each year, where a number of local authority leaders, social figures, women’s committees and peer networks were honored in appreciation of their efforts in supporting the efforts made to protect and empower women.
