HUMAN ACCESS in the governorates of Hadhramaut, Shabwa and Marib concluded implementing the activities of the 16-day campaign to combat gender-based violence, under the slogan "Unite", within the protection and livelihood support project "Safe Space for Women and Girls", in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

To facilitate them in obtaining a steady stream of income through small income-generating projects, 13 beneficiaries in the city of Seiyun, Wadi Hadhramaut, received economic empowerment grants in the fourth quarter of this year. These grants were offered in sewing, tailoring, making sweets and pastries, and maintaining mobile phones.

The economic empowerment grants in Seiyun included three grants in the field of mobile phone maintenance for the first time, which is an important profession for women and girls due to the financial return it provides and the ability to protect their personal data and to minimize the consequences of violating their privacy and putting them at risk of exploitation or extortion.

The beneficiaries expressed their thanks and gratitude for Human Access and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for empowering them with integrated tools and supplies to start their own projects, implement their human rights, realize their potential, and create a better world for themselves and their communities in a country that desperately needs their energies and various contributions.

An open awareness session was conducted by the safe space in the city of Ataq, Shabwa, targeting 50 women. Topics included divorce and its effects, the importance of women defending their rights, protecting themselves from violence in all its forms and manifestations, and the importance of preserving women's dignity due to their important role in society and their potential to bring about positive change.

In Marib, the safe space in Al-Jufaina camp opened a medical clinic for women and girls living in the camp, during which sick cases were examined, free medicines were dispensed, and critical cases were referred to a specialized medical center.

Health kits for pregnant women were also distributed, as well as awareness and health education for the beneficiaries, who numbered 80 women and girls.

The safe space also held an artistic and entertainment festival for women and girls in Al-Suwayda camp, which is inhabited by thousands of displaced men and women as well as an entertainment awareness day in Al-Najah camp, with the participation of many children.

Both events included recreational and educational activities, as well as community and psychological awareness, with the goal of focusing attention on violence and its consequences.

In Al-Wadi district, livelihood grants were distributed to the last batch for the fourth quarter of this year in the fields of sewing, tailoring, and making sweets and pastries for beneficiaries of vocational training courses to improve their living conditions and enhance their protection from gender-based violence.
