To promote and protect the rights of women and girls affected by the crisis, and to highlight their leadership, HUMAN ACCESS implemented several important and targeted activities over the course of a week in Hays District, Hodeidah Governorate. These activities were part of the project "Providing Livelihood Services for the Most Vulnerable Women and Girls in Yemen," funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Community awareness sessions were conducted, targeting 319 women from displaced communities and the host community. The sessions addressed various issues, including gender-based violence, the rights of women and girls, women's role in achieving development, and the importance of women and girls obtaining personal identification documents. The goal was to raise awareness of legal and social issues that contribute to the protection and empowerment of women and girls in all aspects of life.
Six group psychosocial support sessions were conducted, targeting 96 women visiting the safe space for women and girls. These sessions addressed several important issues, such as psychological violence, family disputes and their impact on mental health, coping mechanisms for psychological stress, and strategies to enhance self-efficacy, foster a sense of belonging and collective security, and alleviate psychological symptoms.
In addition, the child space organized a variety of educational, recreational, artistic, and physical activities for 85 children. These activities aimed to provide a safe and supportive environment that contributes to the children's psychosocial well-being, develops their cognitive, motor, and creative skills, boosts their self-confidence, builds a spirit of positive interaction and cooperation, and raises their awareness of safe practices, positive behaviors, and meaningful values.
