On the occasion of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), which falls on February 6 of each year, HUMAN ACCESS in Marib Governorate launched several activities to combat the FGM phenomenon as part of the project to provide livelihood services to the most vulnerable women and girls in Yemen, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

In Al-Jufaina area, an awareness session was held under the title "Yemeni laws related to female genital mutilation", in addition to organizing an awareness seminar, which addressed the serious negative consequences of FGM and the need to accelerate the pace of work, strengthen alliances, and build movements to end female genital mutilation by 2030.

Women and girls in Al-Matar area took part in a silent stand against harmful practices against girls.

As part of educating the public about this wrong practice, which is a form of gender-based violence, a discussion workshop entitled "FGM and Psychological, Social, and Health Effects" was also held.

Furthermore, several awareness sessions were organized in Al-Mujamma, Rawda area, and Al-Mil camps to promote awareness of female circumcision's negative psychological and physical effects, which are violations of women's human rights.
