HUMAN ACCESS in the governorates of Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Al-Mahra, and Marib carried out important activities within the protection and livelihood support project “Safe Space for Women and Girls”, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), to raise women’s capabilities and push them forward to discover all their potential.

In Seiyun city in Wadi Hadhramaut, the safe space carried out community awareness about gender-based violence, and the importance of mobilizing more advocacy and support to combat violence in all its forms, as well as to defend and promote women's rights in the face of many crises and challenges that have been exacerbated by the conflict.

As part of the safe space program in Ataq City in Shabwa, 12 women from the displaced and host communities were taught hairdressing and beautification. This income-generating craft profession was designed to equip the beneficiaries with the skills they needed as sustainable solutions to daily difficulties, while also improving resilience in light of increasing humanitarian needs.

Coinciding with International Women's Day, the Safe Space in Al-Ghaydah city in Al-Mahra visited the women's prison center to review the conditions of female prisoners.

As part of the visit, a group psychological support session was conducted that discussed ways and methods to reduce psychological pressures in order to protect the physical and mental health of the visitors.

In Marib, the safe space in Al-Rawda area and Al-Mil camps organized two training courses for 25 beneficiaries in sewing and sweets making, in addition to implementing an open day as part of International Women’s Day activities, in the presence of a number of women.

The open day included the distribution of gifts and a wide range of entertainment and awareness segments under the slogan “Women are the makers of generations and the foundation of society.”

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the safe space in Al-Wadi District honored a number of female community leaders.

It also held a drawing arts competition to encourage creative women in this creative field and distributed incentive prizes to motivate them to continue.

Moreover, the space held a media symposium in the presence of female journalists and activists about women and their importance in society.

In Al-Matar area, the safe space conducted an awareness session for children about rights and freedoms, as well as two awareness sessions about the meanings of Ramadan and the social meanings of Ramadan nights.

To mark International Women's Day, the safe space in Al-Jufaina area honored several female teachers in appreciation and gratitude for their contributions to society.
