The whole world celebrates International Women's Day on the eighth of March every year. As a human rights issue and a fundamental pillar for building comprehensive and just societies, this day is considered an opportunity to renew the commitment to advancing the rights of women and girls.

On this occasion, HUMAN ACCESS implemented a number of purposeful activities in the governorates of Aden, Hadhramaut, Al-Mahra, and Marib as part of the activities of the Protection and Livelihood Support Project “Safe Space for Women and Girls”, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief).

In Aden, the safe space organized an awareness workshop entitled “Community Protection Networks and their Role in Advocating Women’s Issues,” with the participation of UNFPA’s representative, Marina Al-Jubani, and the attendance of 16 members of the protection networks and peers to mobilize efforts towards investing in women to accelerate the pace of progress.

In Seiyun city in Wadi Hadhramaut, the safe space conducted community awareness about women's rights in Islam to preserve their human dignity in front of 50 women.

Additionally, a dialogue session was conducted in which pioneering women in small economic projects were invited to share their experiences and present their success stories.

As a sign of appreciation for their struggle and inspirational experience, symbolic gifts were given at the end of the session.

In Al-Ghaydah city in Al-Mahra, the safe space organized a panel discussion for the space team, and 3 awareness sessions on women as a source of inspiration for generations, their strength as a strength for society, and their important role in societies, besides conducting a radio episode on the local Tawasul radio to talk about International Women’s Day as a favorable opportunity to educate the general public on women's issues.

In Marib, the safe space in Al-Jufaina area honored female surveyors and carried out a field opinion poll on International Women’s Day and the importance of women’s role in various fields.

Additionally, the safe space held community awareness sessions in front of 40 women about their place in society, as well as a recreational activity for beneficiaries and visitors.

In Al-Matar area, the space held 3 awareness sessions, in the presence of 140 women, to discuss the importance of commemorating this global occasion and the significance of women’s education.

The space honored a number of active women in society as part of an awareness activity for the students of Al-Siddiq Scientific Center, as well as organizing a seminar to address women’s human rights and a panel discussion entitled “Women Reveal Their selves”.

With the participation of 15 women, the seminar addressed the importance of women’s partnership in public life.

The safe spaces in the areas of Al-Mujamma, Al-Rawda, and Al-Mil camps organized a radio episode on the local Al-Jawf Radio on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

To invest in women and build prosperous economies, Al-Mujamma safe space hosted two training programs in sewing and pastry making for 26 beneficiaries.

The safe space in Al-Mujamma area also held a consultative meeting with a number of media professionals and honored women and employees.

Furthermore, it organized a group of awareness-raising activities under the slogan “Women are the foundation of society”, to introduce International Women’s Day, spread community awareness about the importance of the rights of women and girls, and emphasize that investing in women is a necessity for human rights.
