Within the context of the 16-day campaign to combat gender-based violence, HUMAN ACCESS in the governorates of Hadhramaut, Shabwa and Al-Mahra carried out a number of activities under the slogan “Unite”, as part of the protection and livelihood support project activities “Safe Space for Women and Girls”, financed by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Hence, a training course was conducted under the title "The First Year of Marriage" in Mukalla, Hadhramaut, in collaboration with the Happy Family Association, aimed at girls about to be married and those who have been recently married.

The course addressed crucial issues related to marriage and how to deal with family problems so as to achieve family security in society and protect family members from violence.

In the city of Ataq, Shabwa, the Safe Space organized a training course in basic first aid targeting female university students at the Shabwa University College of Education in order to spread knowledge about first aid and its principles, and the importance of saving lives through it.

The course also included an introduction to the 16-day campaign and the importance of addressing violence against women.

Shabwa Radio, moreover, broadcast a radio episode titled "Women's Inheritance" discussing the reasons why women are denied inheritance, effective solutions to address this negative social phenomenon, and that the state, institutions and society must play a vital role in ensuring women have the legal right to inherit, as well as mobilizing more actors to stop this issue.

In Al-Ghaydah, Al-Mahrah, the safe space concluded a campaign of 16 days of activity to combat gender-based violence by honoring the entities that supported and contributed to the success of the campaign, in the presence of the director general of the Social Affairs and Labor office in the governorate, Fayez Belhaf, the director general of Al-Ghaydah district, Salem Saeedan, and the director general of Literacy, Matran Awad.

Prior to the conclusion, the safe space in Al-Ghaydah conducted a radio interview with Tawasul Radio about identification papers as a human right, and the importance of obtaining this right.

It also held two activities on the occasion of the International Volunteer Day, which falls on December 5 of each year. The first was a radio interview to introduce and promote volunteer work, and the second was to honor the volunteers at the safe space.
