HUMAN ACCESS provided health support to 153 voluntarily returning refugees from Yemen to their country, Somalia, while they were in Mualla Port in Aden Governorate, preparing for the return trip on a boat to the Somali port of Berbera.
This important health support is part of the integrated project and the voluntary return program funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support stranded refugees.
The health support provided included conducting the necessary medical examinations for the voluntarily returning refugees to assess their health status and their capacity to endure the burden of traveling by sea for long hours.
Moreover, based on medical prescriptions approved by specialized doctors, the necessary medicines were provided for a full month to patients suffering from chronic diseases or mental illnesses.
Some important health guidelines were also presented to ensure that refugees arrive in good health and start their lives anew in their country.
