HUMAN ACCESS in Marib Governorate launched a health unit in Al-Sumya camp for the displaced in Al-Wadi district as part of the activities of the project "Provision of life-saving basic healthcare services in emergencies within the minimum service package MSP", funded by the World Health Organization (WHO).

At the opening ceremony, the Undersecretary of Marib Governorate, Abdullah Ahmed Al-Bakri, and the Director General of the Public Health and Population Office in the governorate, Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al-Abadi, stressed the importance of this health unit in alleviating the suffering of the displaced in the camp and the host community, and providing them with primary health care services and free medicines.

Al-Bakri and Al-Abadi praised HUMAN ACCESS and WHO for their support of the health sector and wished to expand the health unit to include additional medical and diagnostic services within the framework of the humanitarian partnership in order to serve the beneficiaries, estimated to be twenty thousand displaced people and the host community.

Dr. Ali Saria, the Director of the World Health Organization office in Marib, attended the inauguration of the health unit, which is divided into two caravans containing four rooms with two bathrooms. The unit will provide primary health care services, preventive medicine, and health education within the framework of the minimum package of MSP services.

Emergency services, reproductive health, family planning, child health, malnutrition treatment, an expanded immunization program, medical examinations, medicines, and referral services are also included in the unit, all with the goal of meeting a significant part of the growing health needs of the displaced and host communities severely affected by the conflict in Yemen.
