In the presence of a number of local officials, HAMAN ACCESS in Hadhramaut and Shabwa governorates launched three water wells, two of them in Al Baqoura and Al-Hamra regions in Hajar district of Hadhramaut, and a well in Al Salama area in Shabwa, funded by Namaa Charity.
This vital project, which benefits 2,298 individuals, is planned to provide clean water to the people of the targeted areas easily. As a result, their suffering will be alleviated, which has been long-lasting due to the long distances they have had to travel to obtain water.
A solar energy system with all its components was installed in three wells and operated by the project, a network was extended to beneficiaries' areas and water tanks were built and rehabilitated, which saved the people from paying exorbitant prices for water.
Yemen is classified as one of the poorest countries in the world with water, and the provision of drinking water is still one of the biggest challenges facing the population. Recent international estimates indicate that 18 million Yemenis lack access to safe drinking water.
