In Hadhramaut and Shabwa governorates, HUMAN ACCESS handed over economic empowerment grants to 24 women from the most vulnerable groups, as part of the protection and livelihood support project, “Safe Space for Women and Girls,” funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The goal of the program is to support women in facing the complexities of life, by creating small businesses that suit the needs of the labor market and guarantee the basic living requirements of families in need.

The safe space in Seiyun city of Wadi Hadhramaut presented professional supplies to 12 women from the displaced and the host community in sewing, making sweets and pastries, and maintaining mobile phones, after qualifying them to master these craft professions and equipping them with the necessary life, financial, and marketing skills.

The beneficiaries expressed their great happiness with this economic empowerment and starting their own projects.

Moreover, the safe space in Ataq city, Shabwa, awarded toolkits to 12 beneficiaries including sewing, sweets/pastries, and mobile phone maintenance, while Naser Lashdaf, the Governorate's representative for Social Affairs and Labor, stressed the importance of economic empowerment to women during the handover ceremony.

Lashdaf also praised HUMAN ACCESS and UNFPA’s efforts in implementing these vital projects and reducing poverty and unemployment.
