HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Wadi District, Marib Governorate, carried out a number of diverse activities as part of the project to provide livelihood services for the most vulnerable women and girls in Yemen, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The implemented activities combined economic empowerment, protection, and psychosocial support, in addition to community coordination and future planning, reflecting a comprehensive response to the needs of the most vulnerable women and girls.
Livelihood grants were awarded to six women who benefited from vocational training in sewing, tailoring, and perfume and incense making. A life, financial, and marketing skills program was also completed for 21 women beneficiaries of vocational training, preparing them to enter the labor market and start their own businesses.
Activities included launching an additional training program in sewing and embroidery for 10 women beneficiaries, concluding an additional training course in engraving for 11 women beneficiaries, and distributing dignity kits to 15 women, containing essential supplies, especially for women, to enhance protection against gender-based violence.
Activities also included the implementation of ten community awareness sessions to raise awareness of women's rights and enhance community awareness of women's issues. Individual and group psychological support sessions were also conducted for 80 women beneficiaries to improve their mental health and mitigate the effects of trauma, given the general deterioration in mental and psychological health due to the conflict and declining economic conditions.
While the Child Space continued its activities to provide a safe and supportive environment for children, the process of receiving new cases and following up on livelihood grant beneficiaries continued. Visits and meetings continued to strengthen community coordination, the referral system, and performance monitoring and development plans.
