
HUMAN ACCESS in Shabwah and Marib governorates implemented a number of targeted activities as part of the project "Providing Livelihood Services for the Most Vulnerable Women and Girls in Yemen," funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The project aims to support and empower women and create a positive and sustainable impact in society, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
In Shabwah, a series of activities were launched in the city of Ataq, including the distribution of 78 dignity kits containing essential supplies, especially for women, as part of efforts to promote health and personal protection. A total of 351 women and girls visited the project to learn about its services, and 217 male and female children were received through child-friendly spaces.
Fifteen specialized awareness sessions were conducted in the areas of health, psychological support, and empowerment. Psychological support was also offered to 414 women. Awareness posters were distributed to disseminate health and social messages in the community and educate the community of women's rights. Field visits were furthermore conducted with service providers to update the external referral pipeline.
In Marib, several activities were implemented in Al-Wadi District, including the distribution of dignity kits to 10 women beneficiaries to alleviate the suffering of women and girls living in vulnerable situations. Community awareness sessions were also held with 60 women, as well as individual and group psychological support sessions for 50 women. Other activities included children's activities, beneficiary follow-up, case receptions, and more.
In Al-Rawdah area and Al-Makhil camps, meetings were held with service providers to coordinate external referrals. Quarterly meetings were held with the peer network, community committees, and the working group to address shortcomings, build on strengths, and discuss ways to renew and develop performance to serve women and girls, as well as all measures to protect and promote human rights.
